Since the Covid period 'old-fashioned' hobbies such as embroidery, crocheting and knitting appeared to be back in the public eye. The pleasure of handmaking; knitting, weaving and sewing was re-discovered also by professionals. A new type of design and crafts is evident in design competitions and manufacturing activities. Visual artists started using different materials and techniques to tell stories or to highlight the story that emerges from a material. Some of the most exiting results are assembled at CODA in Apeldoorn by artists: Sanne Bax, Sara Bjarland, Susanna Inglada, Narges Mohammadi, Wouter Paijmans, Klaas Rommelaere, Joana Schneider, Tanja Smeets, Koen Taselaar and Thomas Trum.
