SHOOTING COLOURS
We ran into our fair share of exciting bold pastels; yellow, orange, lilac mixed with arsenic greens and good old pinks. Most of them wrapped in a fluffy skin. And yeah: velvet is still going strong.
MONDAY… One day after the fair we sit back in our editorial offices and process everything we have been seeing the last couple of days. We try to remember what hit us between the eye, touched a nerve and got us excited. Here are some of our highlights and the interview we did with Prague talent Lucie Koldova - the lady of light - who designed this years ‘Das Haus’.
Enjoy!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder while efficiency is more democratic by nature. We spotted some elegantly designed stackable chairs in graphic black at e15 (Henning by Philipp Mainzer) and &Tradition. (Pavilion by Anderssen & Voll). Both have wooden seating.
Carpets bring something extra, nowadays. They envelope a world in 3D. Look at the Parquette series by Swedish designduo Front. Combined with a pouf this installation looks like a lost piece by Escher. It's only two years since the first '3D' carpet was designed by Patricia Urquiola who since then developed it into a genre for CC-tapis. The Italian brand honored IMM with a very beautiful stand and some pretty fab new designs.
Mary Hessing — founder of WOTH, Wonderful Things magazine, speaking to Joel and Kate Booy of Studio Truly Truly about 'Typography' their new lighting system for Australian brand Rakumba.
In case you get bored with the copper and gold dust around; a new trend is actually lingering. We saw plain metal, shiny and shimmering at the Vitra booth presenting a glimmer- edition of the classic Pantone S chair and clad their entire booth in brushed RVS. e15 introduced a new zinc plated frame in a yellow or green finish, adding a really rough- yet clean look to their classic Kazimir table. The Press chair designed by
Harry Thaler in 2011 is now revamped by an unfinished look at IMM's 15 years Pure Talents Contest exhibition (in production by Nils Holger Moormann).
Sweet cudly wool white chairs (most of them covered in beautiful textured Dedar boucle) flocking like friendly sheep all over IMM. Jaime Hayon designed Vuelta for Wittmann, Space Copenhagen did Loafer for & tradition and several other brands took their inspiration straight from nature. We loved it.
