Studio RENS, Renee Mennen and Stefanie van Keijsteren research the effect of colour through their work. In this case they put unfinished ceramic plates in a dish with a colouring agent, let the plate absorb it and then they place it in another dish for a shorter time. That’s how they make the interesting colourful ‘annual rings’. A wonderful process that can be seen online in a short film.
