What does sound mean?
Utrecht-based illustrator Merijn Hos is always looking for new shapes, textures and colour schemes. WOTH featured his profile in editorial comment by Willem van Roosmalen, Creative director of Homerun, in our N03 issue of 2017. Since then we've been following Merijn for years and feel particularly impressed by the way in which he manages to successfully combine his commercial work for brands such as Nike, Wired, Calvin Klein, Apple and iittala with the independent work he showed at exhibitions in New York, Düsseldorf and Madrid. More than that: the two even seem to reinforce one another.
Sonos invited Merijn Hos (@merijnhos) to try evoke his impressions of sound. He responded with a series of images; four visceral responses to different sound stimuli. The four pieces were all created in his homestudio in Utrecht visualizing various music-induced states of mind.
